NOTEWORTHY CUISINE

Salt Soy

If you're looking for a unique asian fusion dinning experience, Salt Soy is a great spot with an awesome outdoor patio. The menu offers a variety of eclectic options with sushi rolls, kebabs, fried rice, ramen, and many different shareable appetizers. If you're doing to do it right at this place, it's best to order for the table and split everything. A perfect place for a date night on the patio under the twinkling nights with the weather gets warm!

Porch and Parlor

If you know the fabulous Flight Restaurant Group who owns Flight in downtown, Southern Social in Germantown, and Coastal Fish Company in Shelby Farms, then you probably already know about Porch and Parlor in Midtown. I won't even deny that the experience and food here are my favorite of the group, but it is extremely hard to say because all of them are on another level of dinning experiences. You can't go wrong with sitting at the bar for a fun night, enjoying good weather on the porch, or having a romantic evening in the parlor. I have never had a bad meal here, and I am going to leave you with two words– Signature Sides.

Hen House Wine Bar

This flocking fabulous and trendy spot opened up in east Memphis a little over a year ago and it's the ideal spot for a happy hour or girl's night. The ambiance is like nothing I've ever seen in Memphis with its unique branding and endless glamorous vibes. The cocktails are seasonal and always delicious, with the bartenders constantly switching it up. Their menu is also seasonal and changes often, but not too much as they do have some staples on there that are worthy of being ordered regularly, like their chicken sandwich. Classy meets sassy in this place, and if you don't order dessert or at least a glass of flocking champagne then you're doing it wrong.

Magnolia May

This is also a semi-new spot in East Memphis, but with a cozy and warm vibe, like if a library nook and bar were to collide. They grow their own produce and ingredients in their own garden, making everything locally sourced and tremendously fresh tasting. They offer a seasonal menu with a few staples and a menu that is always adapting to the weather. I highly recommend their buffalo broccoli and devlied eggs as an appetizer. It's also a lovely weekend brunch spot, but be prepared for a wait because all of Memphis wants a cozy corner for brunch on the weekends.

Andrew Michael

In my first restaurant roundup of Memphis, I included Catherine and Mary's which is Andrew Michael's downtown sister restaurant. Andrew Michael is located in East Memphis in Brookhaven Circle and they are wildly known for their variety of homemade pasta dishes. They have a lot of truly wonderful dishes on their menu as well, such as their chicken and beef, but all of the pasta are full of flavor. It's always a great option to order multiple for the table if you're with a big group so everyone can try a bite of each. They also have a great sommelier who's always been there when I have been and they help with wine pairings out of their top notch wine selection. AM used to do PPP nights on Tuesdays, which included a pasta, plate, and a glass of pinot noir for only $25 but they have now recently replaced that with family nights on Sunday nights, which I haven't had the pleasure of experiencing yet.

Hog and Hominy

It's finally back! Very well known for their brick oven style unique pizzas, this place has been nonstop busy since they reopened after their fire a few years ago, which was detrimental to all of Memphis. This gem is so versatile because of the awesome atmosphere. It's perfect for happy hour, or to celebrate a really special occasion, date night, or a great group dinner because of the menu options. Who doesn't love pizza and wine? Count me in, always. Hot tip is to try the Thunderbird pizza with honey– so good!

Acre

One of my favorite farm to table restaurants with a menu that caters to any type of group with small plates, shareables, entrees, an a la carte options. You're in for a treat with the flavors and unique dishes that pair extremely well together. Next time you're looking for a cozy dinner night, take a trip to Acre.

COZY COFFEE CORNERS

City and State

I'm pretty vocal about how much I adore City and State. The coffee shop is most definitely a cherished cozy corner in Memphis with it's natural light and enticing coffee bar. You will never be led astray by trying their seasonal coffee drinks. I almost always order one of those because their barista truly does know best, and nothing is ever too sweet. It's also a lovely place to have coffee with a friend outside, or known out some work for a few hours.

Hustle and Dough

This trendy and inviting spot serves up vice and virtue coffee daily and never disappoints. When you step inside, you're immediately transpired into a world of creatives, with a colorful and lush ambiance. Their matcha latté is to die for, and I'm not typically a matcha girl. This is great place to stop for a quick breakfast and coffee before exploring the rest of downtown on foot. If I lived downtown, going here before the farmer's market would be a heavenly Sunday ritual.

SWEET TREATS

Sweet Lalas

Not only is Sweet Lalas the definition of a sweet shop with their never ending selection of treats, but they also offer coffee drinks and some of the cutest gifts. A lot of the merchandise and perishables they offer are locally Memphis made, so they're extra special. If you're looking for a box of cookies, a Saturday afternoon pick me up, or a gift for a friend, this place will bring your pure joy.

Sweet Noshings

I'm not sure how I failed to add this dig on my first roundup, but this old fashioned candy story with isles of endless rock candy, fudge, ice cream, and homemade popcorn will have you reminiscing as a kid the second you step through the door. Whatever type of dessert you're looking for, Sweet Noshings has it. It's the ultimate place to satisfy any type of sweet tooth, and I promise you'll be going back pretty regularly. It's located in Overton Square in Midtown right next to Babalu. Once you get your tacos and margaritas, pop over to Sweet Noshings for dessert.

Vibe Foods

This isn't a place for ice cream, but if you're looking for a really great acai bowl or smoothie, I cannot recommend Vibe enough. It's located on poplar avenue and their menu is full of tropical, refreshing, and satisfying options from smoothies to acai bowls to warmer drinks. They also come out with seasonal bowls pretty frequently!
